Single-serving brewing systems are convenient and reduce coffee waste. With so many machines on the market, it's important to purchase the right coffee pods for your machine to prolong their life and state of repair. Here are some notable coffee pod brands and the coffee machines they are compatible with, along with resources for purchasing them.
K-Cups are created by Keurig, a company specializing in single-serving hot drinks. K-Cups are available online and in stores, selling for about $14 for 22-24 pods -- about $0.60 per cup. With hundreds of flavors and brands -- including Bigelow teas, Ghirardelli hot chocolate, and Tully's coffee -- K-Cups offer variety of taste and work with a range of machines. Some brewers are made by Keurig, such as the Keurig Mini Brewer or the B155 Brewing System for both home and office use. K-Cups are also compatible with Cuisinart's SS700 Single Serve Brewing System.
Nespresso Coffee Capsules are designed for Nespresso machines like the Essenza, the Le Cube, and the Lattissima, to name three. The capsules, which are uniquely shaped for coffee pods, range in price from $0.55 to $0.62 on Nespresso.com, and come in varieties from espresso to the mild flavored Lungo.
Senseo Coffee Pods were designed by Senseo, who created their own flavors of coffee and also partnered with Godiva to produce crème brulée coffee blends. These are more affordable than K-Cups; at 66 pods for $21.99 at Senseo.com, coffee is three cups for $1. These pods work with the Senseo coffee machine, both regular and Supreme Single Serve Gourmet.
Finally, T Discs are available for well-known coffee brands, like Starbucks and Seattle's Best, among others. T Discs work exclusively in Tassimo machines, including the Home Brewing System by Bosch, and cost about $11 for 12 pods. (That's just under a dollar per cup of coffee.) T Discs are also available for teas.
